Payment Categories
Active Physician
Physician or dentist who regularly utilizes hospital facilities for patient care (admissions, consults, procedures, etc.); is encouraged to participate in department activities including patient safety/quality initiatives; and has voting privileges. Participates in emergency department specialty specific unassigned call until age 65 with 10 years active staff service and/or 25 years of active staff service (BHMC-LR Professional Staff Bylaws 4.2). CIA training is required yearly until the Corporate Integrity Agreement is complete.
Consulting Physician
Physician or dentist who occasionally utilizes hospital facilities for patient care (admissions, consults, procedures, etc.); may attend department staff meetings, but cannot vote or hold office. (BHMC-LR Professional Staff Bylaws 4.3). *CIA training is required yearly for all Emergency Medicine providers with Consulting privileges until the Corporate Integrity Agreement has been completed.
Telemedicine
Physician responsible for a patient’s care, treatment, and services via telemedicine link must be credentialed to render services at the hospital.
Allied Health Professional I (PA, ANP, RN, LPN, CRNA, CCP, ORT, ST, RDA, SW, MA, COA, COT)
Be employed by Physician or dentist on hospital staff and be under their supervision and direction. Practice within scope consistent with education & licensure, and approved hospital clinical privileges. May write orders only to extent of hospital’s staff rules, but not beyond scope of the AHP's license, certification, or other legal credentials.
PA = Physician Assistant, RN = Registered Nurse, ANP, RNP, CNP APRN, CRNA = Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, LPN = Licensed Practical Nurse, ORT = Operating Room Tech, SW = Social Worker, MA = Medical Assistant, COA = Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, COT = Certified Ophthalmic Technician
Allied Health Professional II (Psychologist or Podiatrist)
Psychologist: Administer psych exams, provide consults, assessments, screenings in emergency cases and provide follow ups upon written order of admitting/attending physician (not write orders or perform any acts that alter care and treatment of the patient).
Podiatrists: Provide podiatric services for all cases for which they have delineated clinical privileges. May render services in consultation with the admitting/attending physician (not write orders or perform any acts that will alter the care and treatment of the patient).
